| On 8-10-78 a straight truck loaded with cattle going to slaughter failed to yield for the westbound at Cty Rd 17 west of Hills. The truck hit the side of the engine right at the lead truck and derailed it and the first two cars. The train was traveling at 35 mph, the truck at 55. Both occupants of the truck were killed along with several cattle. Two of the crew members in 8087 were injured. The accident happened at 7:15 in the morning. |
